Sermon Discussion Guide (April 23 – June 11)
Growing in Friendship and Hospitality
Part II: “Meals With Jesus”
Again, the Lent Series (Second Part of “Growing in Friendship and Hospitality” Series) will include an opportunity to participate in small groups that meet to discuss the sermon (see Sermon Discussion Guide below), share reflections, and pray for one another.
- Part II – Meals with Jesus – in this second part of the series, which is also our Lent series this year, we look at different meals that Jesus has had in the Gospel of Luke. The congregation will be encouraged and challenged to take part in at least two intentional meals with others by the end of April.

Part I: “The Church Should Look Like That”
This winter, we will begin a new sermon series called “Growing in Friendship and Hospitality”. We started Part I of the series, “The Church Should Look Like That”, in January 2023. The theme text of this part of the series is based on Revelation 7:9-10: “From Fellowship to Friendship”.
- Part I of this sermon series is intended to encourage our congregation to grow in its experience of cross-cultural relationships. For some time now, we have been blessed to grow in our cultural diversity. This series intends to create, strengthen, and deepen our friendships with members of our church from other cultural backgrounds.

Fall 2022 Small Group: Our God Reigns: Hope That Motivates Faithfulness
This fall, we will begin a new sermon series called “Our God Reigns: Hope That Motivates Faithfulness”. It is a series on the Book of Daniel. The overarching theme of the book of Daniel is that our God is in control and he reigns over all the earth. It’s often tempting with this book to draw applications from Daniel’s life. “Dare to be a Daniel” is a popular summary of how to preach this book, yet it focuses the attention unhelpfully on moral lessons. While we can learn from Daniel’s life, the better approach will be “Dare to Trust Daniel’s God!”
The series will also include an opportunity to participate in small groups that meet to discuss the sermon (see Sermon Discussion Guide below), share reflections, and pray for one another.
The fall 2022 small group meetings (online/in-person) started on the week of September 11, 2022, and will continue on for ten weeks (Sep 11-Oct 9; Oct 16-Nov 20, Jan 1, 2023).
