Missions Committee
Do you wonder what we do?
We have responsibilities and activities throughout the year to serve Christ, our Master and King, which are expressed in:
Distribution of the annual Mission calendars published by our denomination.
Coordinate evenings when our missionaries are home on furlough for social contact and give them the opportunity to explain their work etc and show the congregation their activities via pictures, slides, video, CD, DVD, etc.
Coordinate bulletin announcements requesting members to write our missionaries and keep them in their daily prayers.
Publish special events such as:
- Missions Fest
- CRC World Missions Lower Mainland meetings
- CRC Summer mission program and financial assistance, if needed, to support the young members from New West Church who are interested in going on a 4-6 week trip to a mission field
Distribute the daily prayer guides and the daily devotion booklet "Today" in English, Korean, and Chinese languages.
Display in Church lobby via literature racks:
- Free foreign language Bibles
- Other Christian literature, booklets, CDs, pamphlets, etc. in various languages
At times short special mission videos are shown during a worship service which are supplied by our denominational World Mission office.
We send church bulletins, tapes, and videos of our local church activities to our missionaries in the field if so requested.
And we advertise and arrange for collections for our missionaries we support and encourage giving for our missions in general.
We presently support workers in God's Kingdom who are teachers at the universities in Hungary, China, Nigeria, and in the area of Human Rights in Haiti.
