Student Dynamics
New West Student Dynamics
Mandate
New West Student Dynamics is a program for high school youth (grades 8-12, ages 13-18) that offers opportunities for spiritual growth and challenges them to grow in their commitment to Christ and His church.
SD students meet the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Tuesday of each month. The 5th Tuesday of each month is usually set aside for social activities. The leaders meet the 1st Tuesday of each month for planning purposes.
Each SD group is divided into grades. Grades 8 – 11 girls and boys meet separately. Grade 12 boys meet together.
The program includes the following:
• A regular time for studying God’s word in a small group setting.
• Organized mission trips (to Mexico or other places) along with local outreach opportunities, equipping participants to use their gifts in ministry to others.
• Regular social events and summer adventure programs to facilitate Christian social interaction.
• Training and support for volunteer leaders and staff.
How does this work?:
The foregoing is accomplished by:
•Setting a (new) curriculum each church year with an overall theme.
•Promoting the building of strong, meaningful relationships between:
a) the student themselves
b) the students and members of New West CRC congregation
c) the students and the community around them.
•Monthly leaders’ meetings to:
a) debrief, problem solve etc.
b) prepare for next series of bible studies
c) experience leadership training.
•Organizing of weekend retreats/conferences for leaders and students
•Encouraging parental involvement through ongoing communication and personal contact.
