After attending our services on a regular basis, we hope you are led to a deeper relationship with this community—one that involves sharing in our covenant with God. Are you willing to make that commitment? A decision to join any community of faith requires prayer, experience, and discernment. We welcome everyone who is thinking about joining the church to meet with one of our pastors in order to pray about and to explore this desire.
Do you want to become a Christian, or do you want to know more about the Christian faith?
Please consider speaking to one of our pastors and they will be happy to meet with you. For those who are new Christians or who wish to learn more about the Christian faith we require that you attend the Alpha Course. This is an excellent introduction to the Christian faith. You are also encouraged to join our Mosaic group that meets on Sunday’s for lunch and discussion after the morning service. This group includes new guests and visitors to New West, especially those from different cultural backgrounds.
If you would like to learn more about what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ, visit us. See how followers of Christ share life together. And if you’d like to speak to one of our pastors they will be most happy to meet with you.
Do you belong to another CRC community?
If so, and you wish to join New West church, please contact the Clerk of Council of your congregation and request that a “Transfer of Membership” be sent to the Council of the New Westminster Christian Reformed Church. We do request that you attend part of our New Member’s Class so that we can introduce you to the various ministries of New West and share opportuinies for you to be involved.
Are you a Christian believer coming from another denomination?
If you are coming from a different denomination or Christian tradition we ask that you talk about membership with one of our pastors. We do require that you go through our New Member’s Class (see below) so that you can be introduced to the broader Reformed tradition and also more specifically to the ministries of New West Chruch. Also, the elders of our church will meet with you to get to know you and your spiritual background. Having gone through the New Member’s Class we will ask you to affirm your faith in Christ and also affirm your general agreement to the teachings of our church. Finally, we would love to connect you with a small group to help you meet other believers and be nurtured in your spiritual journey.
New Member’s Class
Perhaps you have reached a point in your spiritual journey where you feel God calling you to publicly profess faith in Christ and become a professing member in His church; perhaps you have come from another church tradition, have been attending our church for some time, and would like to become a member; or perhaps you simply want to come to some classes and discern how the Lord is leading you. If you resonate with any of these, then please contact Pastor Andrew to talk about the possibility of you being part of the next new members / profession of faith class. Normally we offer this class two or more times a year, depending on interest. Looking forward to hearing from you!
During this multi-session course, usually offered immediately following the Sunday AM service, Pastor Andrew introduces the Reformed tradition more broadly, the CRC denomination, and the New West congregation more specifically.
